The decoration is pretty cool, we ordered Buffalo steak and pan-fried Whitefish, both of them are delicious, but the meal size is a bit small for a man. The salad dressing is special too, worth-a-try.

Yes, it's as good as they say. Fish & chips, that's all they serve and they serve it great. Fish done three ways; deep fried (thin light batter not that heavy thick stuff), grilled, or pan fried, all done perfectly. Two people work the front of house, the cook and the host/everything in between/cashier. It can get busy, our first visit we sat down immediately, our visit the next day we waited about 15 minutes, there was a waiting line already, less than 30 minutes after they opened at 12pm. The fish variety availability varies day-to-day. Yes you should try it.

This is a local spot that is a must try! My sisters and I visited for dinner and tried the grilled Arctic char, pan fried Arctic char, and deep fried white fish, all with fries and salad. All three dishes were delicious, especially their salad dressing, tartar sauce, and the sauce on their non fried fish. Definitely recommend this gem during your stay

If you visit Yellowknife, you have to try their fish and chips. I had my best fish and chips in my life. It’s my first time I visited a restaurant twice in a trip. Cod was better than white fish.

Locals rave about this place. I agree. Excellent fresh fish dishes. In fact, our group ate here 2 days in a row! Our group of 5 ordered the fresh whitefish (pan-fried), cod (deep-fried), and Artic Char (salmon-family) and bison ribeye. Washed down with local NWT Brewery beer. I LOVED the pan-fried whitefish which they top with the house-made special sauce. Amazing! The second best was there fresh cod which we ordered deep-fried like fish & chips. You can taste the fresh cod through the light, crispy batter. Good sizes too. The bison ribeye is best cooked medium-rare, otherwise medium-well will be too tough and chewy. It was delicious with the grilled mushrooms. Lastly our Artic Char, a type of salmon (with red head), was nicely grilled. It had a strong, gamey taste and tough texture. Not bad, but the whitefish and cod were everyone's favorites. It's a small, busy crowded place. I think tour operators take their guests here. So come here before or after the peak lunch and dinner crowds. The best is to make a reservation ahead of time. Their reservation book is handwritten full of future customers. Good luck. The walls and ceilings are full of business cards, pictures, bumper stickers and handwriting. Guest from all over the world. Even Taiwan. It's a fun, casual atmosphere.

At a weekend day 3 or 4pm waited several minutes and walked in, fish and chips were great with unique sauce and lovely atmosphere but too crowded and hard busy to order something else. Historic bistro in Yellowknife and recommended to visit and look around the old town.

A crowded place in the foothill of Pilot's monument in Old Town Yellowknife. Full of tourists during rush hour, maybe some locals there intermittently. The food was good - fresh fish, 3 options of grilled, pan fried or fried. The pro tip is pan fried, not too oily, with good seasonings. The fish was wonderfully cooked, not overdone, allowing it's generous portions to be nuked in a hotel microwave later the following day without consequences. The bread is quite good. It's soft and fresh. The chowder is good, they put tumeric in it, keep it the hell away from your sweater. The place is maybe a tad expensive, 40 CAD/plate. I would recommend this establishment.
